The AL Robotics Club is a volunteer-run, after-school club. Students come and build Lego projects using schematics and automate their movement using a straightforward programming language developed by Lego for use in the classroom. We are offering 2 separate programs for the 2023-2024 school year:

3rd and 4th Graders Program

The 3rd and 4th Graders Robotics Club is an introduction to robotics. Each meeting is self contained, students are building a robot, programming it, and showcasing it to their clubmates.
- For Fall 2023, we offer 2 sessions at the Cherry campus and 2 sessions at the Oak campus
- Each session include 12 students from 3rd or 4th Grade, supervised by 3 adult volunteers (Please sign up to be a volunteer! Perk: Your student is automatically registered for the club)
- The club meets once a week after class, from 4pm to 5:15pm. The entire session includes 7 meetings
- Cost: $75/student. We’ll provide the Lego sets, laptops, and a snack. Limited scholarships are available, please enquire if needed (ALkcRobotics@gmail.com)
- Cherry Session 1: Wednesdays from 9/20 to 11/8 (7 meetings)
- Cherry Session 2: Thursdays from 9/21 to 11/9 (7 meetings)
- Oak Session 1: Wednesdays from 9/20 to 11/8 (7 meetings)
- Oak Session 2: Thursdays from 9/21 to 11/9 (7 meetings)

5th Graders Program
The 5th Graders Robotics Club is a yearlong program. Students will be given a challenge at the beginning of the session, they will build robots and program them during the whole year, and eventually compete against each other. This program is inspired from the First Lego League competitions.
- The session includes 15 students from 5th Grade, supervised by 2 adult volunteers
- Students are recruited from both the Cherry and Oak campuses
- The club meets once a week on Mondays after class, from 3:45pm to 5:00pm.
- The session starts on 9/18/23 and ends on 3/11/24, just before Spring break 2024
- The club meets at the Armour campus. Cherry students will walk from school to the Armour campus. Oak students will be transported from their school to the Armour campus (details TBD)

Calling for Volunteers!
Please fill out the form below if you are interested in facilitating one of the Robotics Club Fall sessions.
- Volunteers are needed for the 3rd/4th Graders Robotics Club, for both the Cherry and the Oak campuses.
- The club meets once a week from the week of September 18th to the week of November 6th
- Meetings are directly after school, from 4pm to 5:15 pm. There are 7 meetings total in each session.
- You and 2 other volunteers will supervise a group of 12 students,
- Each meeting is fully pre-planned with lessons from Lego and additional tips and programming challenges. You do not have to prepare any materials prior to each meeting
- As a benefit, the children of volunteers are automatically offered a spot in the club.
- No engineering or software development skills are required, though an interest in legos or robotics will make the experience much more fun!
